I’m tired, I didn’t sleep well the night before, and that usually means the day after sucks. It’s starting to get hot and humid here, and my runs are suffering from the heat and humidity. Normally, I run sub-9:00 minutes per mile, but right now, I’m lucky if I’m sub-10:00 minutes per mile. I hope that this is just the heat and the increased cross training, and not because I’m losing fitness. I signed up for my 10th marathon on Sunday, and when I mentioned this on Facebook, my new sister-in-law mentioned that she wanted to go to Paris in the next few years, and run the Paris Marathon. This caught me off guard; I have never really been invited to go somewhere like this just with women. I’m excited about it. Paris is one of those marathons on my list of five marathons that I would like to do before I die. It seems weird to run more than just the five marathons I would really like to run, but one of those marathons requires a qualifying time, so I have to run more marathons to qualify for one of the marathons I would like to run.
Excitement is what kept me up. At the end of the week, I will no longer be so alone. My mother-in-law is coming for a short visit on Friday. Then a few days later, my mom and dad are coming for a longer visit. My daughter’s last day of school is on Thursday. There’s so much to do to get ready for houseguests. I also am starting to shop for a laptop. I really enjoy writing. I would like to do more of it, but I’m relegated to a desk right now. Purchasing a laptop would allow me to write anywhere, including outside while the kids are playing. I’m looking at used ones on Ebay, I don’t really need anything fancy, or with the up-to-the minute software. I won’t really need the computer until July or August, but the sooner I get it, the better. The idea of writing in bed while watching television is so attractive to me.
