Day 165: May 15, 2013

A few days ago, I noticed that I was having dizzy spells.  I figured they were something to do with lack of sleep and stress, both things I have had a lot of experience with lately.  On Sunday, my daughter began to run a fever of around 101.  She seemed fine as long as there was a constant stream of either Tylenol or Motrin.  I took her to the clinic on Monday to discover strep throat.  Yesterday, I started to feel more and more nauseous, and I also continued to have the dizzy spells off and on throughout the day.  I went into the Minute Clinic at the pharmacy, and discovered not only did I have strep throat; I also had a pretty severe ear infection.  I find it rather ironic, because I have very little symptoms of either.  I just am uncomfortable, and very crabby.  Well, the shit hit the fan today, when I sent my son on field trip.

The report came back that he was not feeling well during the field trip.  He didn’t actually get sick, but he complained about feeling sick.  Upon getting him home, I took his temperature, and he has a fever.  He also has a rash on stomach, so another bites the dust with strep.  When it rains, it pours, not only does it pour, but it seems to deluge at my house during a deployment or long TDY.  So the surgery for Friday is now cancelled.  Next week the EEG and the sleep study may be cancelled, and my stress level is through the roof.  On a positive note, I keep thinking that everything happens for a reason, and I think that my son was not meant to have that surgery, if he were meant to have it, he wouldn’t keep getting sick in the days leading up to it.

Since my daughter was on the mend today and had 24 hours of antibiotics in her, I decided to take a trip to Lowes.  I was going to be Martha Stewart, and build me a “Salad Table.”  A salad table is an elevated garden for people who cannot bend over and garden.  Our garden is usually a failure due to a Golden Retriever who happens to like garden vegetables.  He so far, has eaten every tomato off my tomato plants.  Luckily he has not touched the green peppers or green beans.  I was going to grow spinach, romaine lettuce, melons, and eggplants in the elevated garden.  I got it all put together this afternoon, only for it to fall apart.  I didn’t realize that I needed special nails to nail the damn thing together.  So I took all the nails out, put the special nails in, and discovered that the special nails were too long.  Not only that, but on leg is shorter than all the other legs.  I’m about ready to tear my hair out with this stupid thing.  I managed to get it mostly put together, but now with the incubus plague going through out home, I’m going to stop all outdoor projects and disinfect.  I’m yet again spring cleaning and disinfecting.  Maybe if I can get this house clean, we can all start getting on the mend.  I don’t want to spend the entire summer in the clinic with strep throat, the stomach bug, or any other ailment.
