Isagenix Day 11: Last Cleanse Day! WOOHOO!

Today is my last cleanse day for another 19 days, then I’m going to reassess and decide how many cleanse days I plan on doing the next few weeks.  I really like cleanse days, not during the cleanse itself, but afterwards.  The cleanse itself can be painful at times, because there is no denying that you are hungry, and by the end of the day– water, tea, and the very little nourishment I allow myself gets old after 48 hours.  I am Catholic, and I used to use marathon training and blood sugar as an excuse not to fast, and surprisingly, I’m actually going to be able to fast come Easter.  Really fast, not the pussified version of fasting many Catholics do– aka eat a hearty breakfast in the morning, eat a light lunch in the afternoon, and pig out at suppertime (as a fast is sun up to sun down).  Instead I’m going to do a cleanse on fasting days over Easter :).

My weight has stagnated a little bit, but I have a sneaking suspicion I know why, and it will be confirmed shortly.  That being said, this AM I am again down 9 pounds over my starting weight, and I am pleased with that progress.

I went to Physical Therapy today, and confirmed the bursitis on me IT Band (this is the ligament that runs from your ankle to your knee to your hip.  I am sore, but I will probably be able to run again on Friday or Saturday.  After my knee surgery, when my knees swell, I get terrified.  I don’t want to be told I can’t run ever again.  I have lots of years of living left, and this would just lower my quality of life significantly.

Isagenix Day 10: Bursitis!!!

I had a scare today.  I have been cleaning and doing my normal housework all day.  My knee felt tight, and a little sore.  This is not unusual for me.  I had knee surgery about 16 years ago, and this really scared the crap out of me.  I went to the spouse luncheon today, and went to get out of the car.  My knee crackled and popped.  I went to the bathroom, and saw this!  There was a fluid sac on the left knee cap.  I called my PT, and it was Bursitis.  It’s common, not an injury.  It’s caused by lifting weights.  I will probably be doing a little lighter load tomorrow at PT.  Today is also the third cleanse of the fourth cleanses during the 30-day plan.

Isagenix Day 9: Confession Time…

Well, I have done two off diet things the last few days.  Last night, I ate a little more than 600 calories.  I haven’t really been “measuring” and calculating calories for my evening meal, because I trusted that I would know how many calories I would eat during supper.  I was wrong, and way over-ate last night.  And today for lunch, I ate a 600 calorie lunch, and I have no intention of having a shake tonight, because I am about to go into a cleanse tonight and need all my evening calories.  Those confessions aside, I am only up one pound :).

On another good news front–my physical therapist okay’ed me to build up from 3 miles a day every other day to 5 miles by early next week.  He wants me to be OK to run higher mileage runs as a measure of the success of the therapy.  I feel great.  The only “back problem” I am having is my back feels rather tight.  It’s not overly severe or horrible.

Weight: 142.0
Total Inches lost (I measured last night): 30

AM: Ionix Supreme, Accelerator
Breakfast: Shake plus 16 ounces of water
AM Snack: 2 snack wafers
Lunch: Tortilla Soup and Turkey Breast Sandwich (Applebees– under-600 calorie lunch menu), 32 ounces of water
PM Snack: Apple, 16 ounces of water
Dinner: Chili, 16 ounces of water

Activity: Physical Therapy

Flowers: Cypress Gardens

I’m double posting on my blog today, because I didn’t have a lot of time this week with editing.  I have been working about 6-8 hours a day editing the novel, so I have neglected to do any work on my webpage, Esty Shop (which has not been launched yet), or Society6.  Here’s some pictures that I took prior to the New Year.  I got a few new lenses and a tripod for Christmas, so I plan on going out a little later this month when the weather gets better (it’s been cold and rainy lately).  Enjoy some spring flowers while you wait.

Cypress Gardens is near Tampa, FL.  It is co-located with Lego Land and hosts some of the world’s most beautiful gardens and walking paths.  The Gardens is separated into regions of the world, and they feature flowers native to not only Florida, but Asia, Australia, Europe, and Africa.  The center of the garden has the Banyan Cypress Tree.  It is thousands of years old, and one of the prettiest trees I have ever seen.

Isagenix Day 8: Weight going back down again!

Embers
A Fire Has Been Lit!

My weight started to fall again today.  I went for another short run, and the runs are going OK.  I think I have to talk to my physical therapist to see if I should continue to run, or if I should stop again, and take a break.  My back doesn’t really hurt per say.  It feels tight.  I would still say on a pain scale it’s around a 1 or 2.  I just wonder if a tight back is going to be the new norm.  It definitely has gotten significantly better than when I had run the NYC Marathon.  A friend of mine posted a pretty awesome looking cross training workout I plan on trying the next week:

5-10 minute warm up jog

3 Reps:
10 Burpies
10 Crunches
30 Second Plank
30 Second High Knee
2 minute Run/Jump Rope
1 minute recovery

5-10 minute cool down jog

Stretch

Weight: 141.6

Early AM: Ionix plus 16 ounces of water and Accelerator tablet
AM: Shake
Lunch: Shake plus apple
PM Snack: Chocolate Delights and Accelerator tablet
Dinner: Low calorie Hamburger Stroganoff and Caesar Salad, 16 ounces of water

Activity (adding this today): 30 minute run (approximately 3.1 miles, but my GPS crapped out on me).

Isagenix Day 7: One Week Down, 3 weeks and 2 days to go!

Day one on the left, Day 7 on the right

Well, my first week is done.  I am down 6 pounds total.  I am slightly discouraged that I gained some weight after the cleanse, but not overly surprised.  I will say I am preparing my next order.  I wanted to highlight some of the benefits that I didn’t realize would happen doing this cleanse.  Maybe it’s psychological, or maybe there’s something to this that mainstream medicine doesn’t recognize.  I don’t know, here goes:

1.  I am happier.  I had one moment of negativity during the cleanse, but for the most part I have not felt overly negative at all.

2.  I have energy.  Usually when I was eating my “old” diet, I would get up in the morning, eat breakfast, drag myself outside to run, eat a snack (usually laden with fat, sugar, and salt).  Now, I get up in the morning drink Ionix, water, take my accelerator, and drink a shake.  I don’t feel low energy at all!

3.  I am breaking addictions.  The first few days it took will power not to eat the same things that everyone in the house was eating.  Especially since my son and husband whipped out chips and dip while watching football.  I ate an apple.  At dinner, my husband would have a beer, I drank water.  I wanted to eat those foods, I wanted to eat them so badly.  But after the cleanse, they don’t even sound that good to me.

4.  My back feels better!  This really surprised me.  The pain in my back has gone down significantly, I started physical therapy, but physical therapy does not account for the fact that the pain has decreased significantly.

5.  I am drinking more water.  I am staying well hydrated :).  I always have a water bottle with me, and I refill it 6-7 times a day (16 ounce water bottle), and more on days when I’m active.  I’m drinking nearly a gallon of water a day!

So there you have it…

Isagenix Day 6: It Comes In Chocolate Too!

10378547_1575369786014946_634166522134513629_n

I needed to switch things up a little bit for today.  I decided to add a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa to my afternoon Isagenix smoothie.  It only adds around 10 calories to the drink.  As I predicted, my weight loss stagnated today.  I gained .2 pounds this morning, not a huge deal.  I am still very happy to be down nearly 8 pounds.  This weekend is going to be quite challenging though.  Tomorrow is my son’s birthday party.  I won’t be able to bring a shake with me to the party, but I will be able to bring a meal replacement bar.  It’s going to take a lot to resist pizza and cake.  Sunday won’t be too bad though.

Besides the weight loss, the other thing that utterly amazes me about this diet is my grocery bill.  I poo-pooed Julie when she told me that my grocery bill would go down.  The first week, I spent $220 on groceries, but it was because we had just returned from Orlando.  This week, my groceries were under $160!  I have been spending upwards of $250-260 on groceries each week.  Not only am I not buying breakfasts and lunches that I normally buy.  I am buying far less total food.  Most of my groceries were on the outside of the grocery store.  I hope that I can continue this after the 30-days is up.  I don’t think I’m going to do a full-up deep cleanse next month for four days next month.  As of right now, my plan is to drink a shake in the morning, eat the snacks in the mid-morning, add a low calorie fruit/vegetable heavy meal in the afternoon, eat fruit as a mid-day snack, and eat a 400-600 calorie evening meal.  I plan to allow myself a few more cheat days– including a glass or two of wine, and some dessert.  So I am making a list of what I need for next month.

So here’s today’s stats:

Weight: 142.7

Early AM: 1 ounce Ionix Drink, 16 oz of water
AM: Vanilla Flavored Shake
Mid-morning snack: Chocolate snack
Lunch: Vanilla Shake with 1 TBSP Cocoa
Mid-Afternoon snack: Apple
Dinner: Baked Chicken Breast with Gluten Free Mac and Cheese and Broccoli
Before Bed: Flush Tablet
